Oakland firefighters, IAFF Local 55 is a charter member of the International Association of Firefighters, the international labor union for the more than 300,000 firefighters across the US and Canada. Local 55 was amongst the first 100 firefighter’s unions that founded the IAFF on February 28, 1918, and Local 55 is the only charter member in the IAFF’s 10th district. Oakland Firefighters Local 55 protects the wages, benefits, and working conditions of it’s proud members and is an integral part of the Oakland community. Since the founding of the Local 55 Charity Fund, we have donated over 1 million dollars to charities in and around Oakland. Your Oakland Firefighters partner with schools, houses of worship, corporate, community based, charitable and philanthropic organizations to improve the Town wherever possible.
