Straw Poll online vote - Pay Where You Eat
A Straw Poll online vote will begin tomorrow May 22 at 12:01 am and close on May 29 at 11:59 pm.
The following will be the polling matter and answer options:
At the March 2013 General Membership meeting there was a member request that we conduct a straw poll to see whether members would be interested in a house fund “Pay Where You Eat” practice rather than the current practice of paying where you are assigned. Please share your thoughts by checking one of the boxes below. This is not a vote to change this practice, it is a poll to see if this issue will be pursued further.
1. Keep house fund payment as it is now; pay where you are assigned.
2. Change to a “Pay Where You Eat” practice. This includes traders.

Supreme Court Chips Away At Worker Rights - Again
|June 30, 2014 – In another example of why elections matter, the politically appointed members of the U.S. Supreme Court handed down their decision today in Harris v. Quinn today. The Supreme Court ruled narrowly that the First Amendment prohibits a union’s collection of fees for the cost of representation activities (known as “agency fees”) from in-home health care workers who do not wish to join or support the union.|

Giving Muscular Dystrophy the Boot
|May 9, 2014 – The year was 1954. Dwight D. Eisenhower called the White House home, a gallon of gas averaged 22 cents, and the television show “Father Knows Best” kept Americans captivated with Hollywood’s version of the perfect family. But, as explained in a 1954 article published in The Press-Gazette (Hillsboro, Ohio), no one knew best when it came to treating the estimated 200,000 Americans diagnosed with a strange ailment called muscular dystrophy. This “very costly disease,” the article explained, baffled researchers, and although the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), founded in 1950, was dedicated to “seeking the cause and a cure for this mysterious and fatal malady,” insufficient research funds kept progress at bay.|
