Straw Poll online vote - Pay Where You Eat
A Straw Poll online vote will begin tomorrow May 22 at 12:01 am and close on May 29 at 11:59 pm.
The following will be the polling matter and answer options:
At the March 2013 General Membership meeting there was a member request that we conduct a straw poll to see whether members would be interested in a house fund “Pay Where You Eat” practice rather than the current practice of paying where you are assigned. Please share your thoughts by checking one of the boxes below. This is not a vote to change this practice, it is a poll to see if this issue will be pursued further.
1. Keep house fund payment as it is now; pay where you are assigned.
2. Change to a “Pay Where You Eat” practice. This includes traders.
Firefighter James Harris of Engine 20/ Truck 7 has some good things going on his off days.

D.C. First Responders Prepare as Ebola Threat Grows
|At the D.C. Fire and EMS Department Training Academy in Southwest Washington on Saturday, a few dozen people, many with soot-smeared faces, milled about waiting for the smoke from a cinderblock building to clear. The crowd, mostly civilian volunteers, spent the morning storming smoking stairwells and peeling roofs off cars under the supervision of professionals. But the most fearsome mock adversary of the day was still to come. It was not a five-alarm fire, but Ebola. The Ebola response demonstration was the finale of Fire Ops 101, an event the International Association of Fire Fighters, a union that represents more than 300,000 firefighters and emergency medical technicians, organizes nationwide. It is mostly for the benefit of lawmakers, to help them appreciate the perils that first responders face.|
